Certify Your Workshop for Credits Through ATRA

The American Therapeutic Recreation Association offers recreational therapy continuing education approval and transcripts verifying participation for programs that meet specific criteria. These educational programs will be used by recreational therapists to meet continuing education requirements for Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist national certifi cation. In addition, other allied health professions can use ATRA CEU transcripts for licensure/certification purposes. ATRA’s CEUs are accepted by multiple professions and organizations, and are not restricted to recreational therapists.

This guide will assist you in applying for CEUs for recreational therapists and other allied healthcare professionals. Please read the information thoroughly to ensure compliance with standards and appropriate provision of information. Sample forms and documentation are included for your use. ATRA has been approved as an Authorized Provider of continuing education units by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) – provider number 406. Granting CEUs requires that certain criteria and guidelines be met in accordance with IACET standards. For this reason, ATRA is an excellent choice to provide CEUs for your workshop or conference. ATRA cannot retroactively award credit for workshops or conferences, and applications for credit must be received four weeks prior to the event. Consider sending in your application six weeks before the event to allow CEU personnel time to help you make any changes necessary.
